Start with a Problem, Not an Idea

The first step to building a startup is identifying a real, pressing problem that needs solving. Forget about chasing trendy ideas; focus on pain points experienced by a specific audience. Validate the problem by talking to potential users and understanding their challenges. This will help you define a solution that truly adds value. Remember, a great startup solves a problem people care about, not just what you think is cool.

Build a Lean Version and Validate Fast

Once you’ve identified the problem, create a Minimum Viable Product (MVP)—a simplified version of your solution that delivers just enough value to test your assumptions. Don’t waste time perfecting every feature; instead, launch quickly and gather real-world feedback from your users. Use this feedback to iterate and improve. The goal is to learn fast and adapt to what works, ensuring your solution aligns with user needs before scaling.

Focus on Traction and Revenue Early

In the early stages, your main priority should be gaining traction and proving that your idea can generate revenue. Develop a clear go-to-market strategy and find channels where your target audience spends time. Experiment with marketing tactics, track your performance, and double down on what works. At the same time, don’t get caught up in vanity metrics—focus on acquiring paying customers and building sustainable growth from day one.
